Landscape zones
When assessing Biodiversity across broad regions it is useful to define manageable sub-units (Zones).
This method enables more effective identification of the roles of local participants-land managers, stakeholders
and the wider community in the conservation of biodiversity. The development of Zones also assists in developing a
strategy that protects biodiversity features across the region as a whole by allowing programs to concentrate on
particular targets in each Zone. Typically, Landscape Zones comprise part of a single bioregion, but in some areas,
they may contain parts of one or more bioregion.
